The Boise Art Museum's existing facility, a civic anchor in downtown Boise since 1937, required modernization to meet the demands of contemporary exhibition programming. The renovation needed to upgrade gallery environments, improve visitor circulation, and expand the institution's capacity while maintaining continuity of its cultural presence in the community.
As an architectural intern at CSHQA Architects, Mark contributed directly to the renovation and expansion of the museum's facilities, including detailed wall section studies and construction document development. The design modernized the gallery fabric, improved environmental controls appropriate for exhibited works, and brought the building's interiors into alignment with contemporary museum standards.
The renovated Boise Art Museum continued its role as Idaho's primary fine art institution, with upgraded facilities supporting expanded programming. Mark's early involvement in this project established foundational experience in institutional building type, construction detailing, and the coordination demands of public cultural facilities.
