CHALLENGE
The Idaho Air National Guard required a modern hangar to support its fleet of C-130 aircraft. The challenge was to design a large-span facility capable of meeting rigorous FAA, military, and security standards. The facility needed to integrate maintenance, operations, and support spaces within a highly functional and durable structure, all while addressing the seasonal conditions of the region.
SOLUTION
We designed a pre-engineered metal building with expansive clear-span bays capable of housing multiple C-130 aircraft. The layout included dedicated maintenance areas, storage, and administrative offices to streamline operations. The design emphasized durability with reinforced structural systems, heavy-duty hangar doors, and weather-resistant detailing to ensure continuous functionality in demanding conditions. Coordination with mechanical and electrical systems was critical to support specialized equipment and safety requirements.
RESULT
The new hangar provides the Idaho Air National Guard with a state-of-the-art facility that supports mission readiness and operational efficiency. The large-span bays, integrated maintenance and support spaces, and secure design ensure the building will serve as a long-term asset for military operations. The facility has become a cornerstone of the Guard’s aviation infrastructure at Gowen Field.
