We developed a comprehensive master plan organized around three key program elements: wellness, events, and recreation. Inspired by Japanese onsen and natural hot springs, the wellness component introduces pools, spas, and tranquil retreats that frame views of the canyon. Event and hospitality spaces, including a timber-frame pavilion and indoor-outdoor gathering halls, provide flexible venues for weddings, celebrations, and conferences. Recreational amenities connect to the existing golf course, trails, and riverfront, ensuring a seamless integration with the natural landscape. The design process emphasized a material palette rooted in nature: timber, stone, and water elements complement the site’s dramatic geology and lush vegetation. Pathways and outdoor rooms guide guests through the landscape, linking moments of quiet reflection with opportunities for social connection. Working with engineering partners, we carefully planned infrastructure, circulation, and utilities to support phased growth without compromising the natural setting. RESULT The Canyon Springs Master Plan reimagines the property as a premier destination for wellness, recreation, and community. Guests will experience the serene power of the canyon through hot spring pools, restorative spas, and tranquil trails, while event venues provide vibrant spaces for celebration and gathering. The plan establishes a flexible framework for future development, ensuring the site remains both environmentally responsible and economically viable. By blending timeless architectural traditions with the unique landscape of the Snake River Canyon, Canyon Springs is poised to become a regional landmark for generations to come.
