We developed a streamlined cabin form that responds directly to its mountain setting. The roof pitch and structural system were designed to manage heavy snow loads efficiently, minimizing maintenance and ensuring long-term resilience. Exterior finishes include corrugated metal siding, durable cladding, and minimal detailing, all chosen for their ability to weather gracefully with minimal upkeep. Large windows provide natural light and views to the surrounding forest, while the open deck and outdoor spaces encourage family gatherings in the summer months. The interiors follow a contemporary aesthetic with simple, durable finishes that suit the cabin’s function as both a retreat and a legacy home. RESULT The mountain cabin is a modern interpretation of the mountain cabin, providing a flexible, robust retreat that will serve the family for decades. Its simple design, resilient finishes, and thoughtful integration with the site create a balance between practicality and contemporary style, ensuring that the cabin is as enduring as the memories it will host.
