CHALLANGE
Design a modestly sized infill home on a compact site while avoiding a sense of crowding or compromise. The residence needed to provide privacy, meaningful outdoor living, and a feeling of openness despite close proximity to neighboring properties.
SOLUTION
The home is organized around a backyard courtyard and pool that function as a primary living space rather than leftover exterior area. This inward-focused strategy allows the architecture to screen adjacent properties while framing views of water, sky, and landscape. Clean contemporary forms and low-sloped roofs maintain a restrained profile within the neighborhood, while clerestory windows bring daylight deep into the interior. Large sliding doors dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior spaces, allowing living areas to open directly to the courtyard. Interior layouts emphasize efficiency, sightlines, and ceiling height to amplify the perception of space. The result is a refined infill residence that lives well beyond its footprint, offering privacy, openness, and flexibility within a compact suburban context.
