Mark Wagner has been practicing architecture for over thirty years, delivering more than 300 projects across commercial, institutional, civic, and residential sectors with a combined construction value exceeding $250 million.

He grew up in North Idaho with Chicago roots. His grandfather was the kind of Chicagoan who followed the city's architecture the way others follow sports — newspaper clippings at the dinner table, conversations about what was being built and what it meant. Architecture was part of the family conversation long before it was a course of study.

After earning his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Idaho in 1994, Mark spent eight months on-site at Mountain Home Air Force Base (MHAFB) as the architect's representative on a large USAF commissary project — watching everything get built in real time, negotiating field conditions with contractors daily.

From there, his career took a deliberately wide path — log and timber construction at Precision Craft, co-founding Gravitas Design, building the architectural division at Tamarack Grove Engineering from zero to a profitable international practice, and serving as Principal Architect at Cole Architects leading commercial and institutional projects.

What drives him is learning. Learning about people, new technologies, better ways to build, more sustainable uses of materials. And equally: understanding each client. How a developer evaluates risk, how a homeowner lives their daily life, how a business owner thinks about their operations, how an institution serves its community.

Fine Line Studio is a principal-led practice. When you hire Fine Line, you work directly with Mark Wagner from the first conversation through construction completion. No hand-offs. No junior staff managing your project.
