Canyon Springs

Challenge

Transform the unique setting of Canyon Springs into a regional destination that combines natural beauty, wellness, and community gathering along the Snake River Canyon. The plan needed to balance environmental sensitivity, guest experience, and long-term economic sustainability while honoring the site's dramatic geology.

Solution

We developed a comprehensive master plan organized around three program elements: wellness, events, and recreation. Inspired by Japanese onsen and natural hot springs, the wellness component introduces pools, spas, and tranquil retreats that frame canyon views. Event and hospitality spaces including a timber-frame pavilion and indoor-outdoor gathering halls provide flexible venues for weddings, celebrations, and conferences. Recreational amenities connect to the existing golf course, trails, and riverfront.

A material palette rooted in timber, stone, and water complements the site's dramatic geology. Pathways and outdoor rooms guide guests through the landscape, linking moments of quiet reflection with social connection.

The Canyon Springs Master Plan reimagines the property as a premier destination for wellness, recreation, and community. The plan establishes a flexible framework for phased development, ensuring the site remains both environmentally responsible and economically viable for generations to come.
