Design a contemporary family residence that balances bold architectural expression with warmth, comfort, and daily livability. The home needed to feel refined and expressive without sacrificing its connection to the landscape or its ability to function as a long-term family retreat.
The residence is composed as a two-level arrangement of clean-lined volumes grounded by natural stone and softened through material warmth and proportion. Broad roof overhangs and carefully placed glazing manage solar exposure while framing views of the surrounding landscape. Inside, warm walnut millwork, sculptural stair elements, and stone finishes establish continuity and tactile richness throughout the home. Living spaces are organized to support both everyday routines and entertaining, with strong visual connections to outdoor areas that extend the living environment.
The completed home feels both confident and inviting. Architectural clarity, material restraint, and strong indoor-outdoor relationships create a residence that is expressive without excess, refined yet comfortable, and deeply rooted in its setting. The infinity pool and outdoor terrace system extend living to the landscape, establishing a complete residential environment suited to California's climate and the client's way of living.
